Prosecuting, Sgt. Rex Osborne told the court that on April 2 at 4.15 p.m.

Police arrested Webb on Union Street.

"He asked to use the bathroom and then struggled with the officer. Police found .2 grams of cannabis in his pocket and a hypodermic needle and syringe in his hand.'' Sgt. Osborne said that Webb told the officers that he had found the syringe on the ground and was about to put it in his pocket because he did not want it to get into the hands of children.

OVER THE LIMIT CTS Drunk-driver John Patrick Collins was taken off the road for a year and given a $400 fine in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Collins, 25, was seen swerving from side to side on his motorbike on Mullet Bay Road in St. George's at 2.50 a.m. on October 31, the court heard.

A breathalyser test showed he had 125 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Collins, of Pieces of Eight Lane, St. George's, admitted the offence.

FIRE CALLS UP FIR Firefighters received 94 emergency calls in October compared to 88 in the same month last year.

Seventy two of the calls were fire alerts, latest figures show. All but 18 were false alarms.

Magistrates' Court heard his bike was picked up on Police radar. A check revealed he was off the road. He was also fined $550.

CHEEKLY THIEF CTS A cheeky thief snatched a visitor's handbag from her feet as she sat on the sofa at her guest house.

The intruder slipped into the Paget property through an open sliding glass door at about 8.45 p.m. on Monday.

The bag contained US $168, Canadian $120, and other personal items, including travel documents.
