Drug Commission set to face plagiarism charges
expected to face accusations in Magistrates' Court in February that the NDC plagiarised a drug report.
The Royal Gazette has learned that Research Innovations Ltd. owner Mr. Walton Brown Jr. will produce evidence alleging that Ms Simmons lifted information from the company's research proposal entitled "Drug Use Among the Addicted Population in Bermuda: A Sample Survey'' and included it in a document sent to Government's Statistics Department.
The document, entitled Terms of Reference for an analysis of Bermuda's addicted population, allegedly includes the verbatim text of page one of Research Innovations' August 25, 1994 proposal.
Mr. Brown is believed to be seeking some $9,000 in damages.
Mr. Brown reportedly is expected to bring legal action before the end of the year against Government Ministers, in particular Mr. Dill, now Deputy Premier and Education Minister.
When contacted, Mr. Brown would only confirm that he would be representing himself on February 27. He and Mrs. Simmons said they were not at liberty to comment on the case before it was dealt with in court.
