Election date set for Bishop's election

Since Bishop Ewen Ratteray stepped down at the end of March, Bermuda has been without an Anglican Bishop, but that may change by the end of September.

The Chancellor of the Anglican Church of Bermuda, David Cooper, announced in a press release that an election is expected to be held in mid-September between Canon Dr. Patrick White and Archdeacon Andrew Doughty.

Dr. White is currently the rector of St. Paul's Church in Paget, while Archdeacon Doughty is the rector of St. Mary's Church in Warwick. Both candidates are Bermudians.

After the vote by the members of the Synod, the elected candidate will have to be approved by the Archbishop of Canterbury, before being consecrated as Anglican Bishop of Bermuda by at least three Bishops of the Anglican Church.
