Experts offer helping hand on the road to university
Canada are on the Island this week.
They, along with parents, students, and education officials, will attend the Bermuda College's fourth annual university fair at The Princess hotel tomorrow.
The fair's evening session, between 7 and 9 p.m, will be open to the public.
On Friday, the fair will move to the college's Stonington campus in Paget for a Transfer Student Day Programme.
Students will have the opportunity to speak with individual representatives and collect information about various institutions.
Parents also got the chance to help their children prepare for college during a seminar last night.
The seminar, entitled Navigating the College Admission Process, was held at the Harbour Room in the Number One Shed on Front Street.
Speakers shared tips with parents on what the college application process entails. And they suggested ways parents could become involved as "cheerleaders'' for their children while providing them with advice and guidance.
The workshop also covered financing a college education and preparing young people for their first long-term experience away from home.
Guest speakers were vice chancellor for student affairs at North Carolina University in Durham, North Carolina Mr. Arthur Affleck, and principal of Ancrum & Solomon consulting firm in Boston, Massachusetts Mr. Ron Ancrum.
