'For The People' street festival to be held next week

A festival in honour of some of North East Hamilton's upstanding residents and business owners will take place next week.

'For the People', a community street festival, will be held for the third time by the Economic Empowerment Zones Agency (EEZA), in partnership with The Centre and The Chewstick Foundation, next Saturday.

The free event which serves to celebrate the contributions of long standing stakeholders from North East Hamilton, will also feature activities and entertainment for the whole family.

According to Deidra-Lee Bean, an administrative volunteer with Chewstick Foundation, it will be a "fun-filled event that will serve to strengthen one of the brightest Bermudian communities".

It will include a historical walking tour of North East Hamilton provided by Imagine Bermuda; and performances from local entertainers from a variety of musical genres.

There will be a complimentary food court called "Tastes of the EEZ" providing people with a dine-around experience with some of the area's best restaurants; and a host of activities for all ages including Hula hoop contests and Bingo.

The event will take place in the area stretching from Angle Street, Princess Street, Elliott and Court Street from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m.
