Four to study motor trades in US

Bermuda Motors have students working in the apprenticeship programme with the National Training Board. The students are Ryan King, Juvonne Cann, Maurice Symonds (centre) and NTB executive officer Michael Stowe on the left. To the back of the students is chief shop steward Andre Rochester and BIU representative Louis Somner.

Four young Bermudians are being sponsored by Bermuda Motors and the National Training Board to study in the States.

Ryan King, Juvonne Cann and Maurice Symonds will be attending the Universal Technical Institute in Norwood, Massachusetts, to study mechanics.

Tani Pitcher, meanwhile, will attend the Universal Technical Institute in Houston, Texas, where she will be enrolled on the automotive body and paint shop programme.

Krishna King, after-sales manager at Bermuda Motors, said it was a great opportunity for all four to learn their trade and a boost for the Island, where there is a shortage of local technicians.

NTB executive officer Michael Stowe said: "They are going to do a programme that's considered one of the best. It's a significant opportunity for them and excellent news."
