Got health insurance? Here's why you need it
The Bermuda Health Council has launched a campaign to ensure all Bermudians are covered by health insurance.
During the month of August, pamphlets were distributed to people the BHC felt may not currently be covered by health insurance such as farmers, fisherman, and taxi drivers.
And this month a pamphlet entitled 'Why Health Insurance?' is being mailed to every household on the Island.
The key messages are that health insurance is cheaper than paying for a health emergency and therefore designed to protect from financial hardship and that persons who are employed should have health insurance provided by their companies.
The mail-out supports the BHC's ongoing work, in cooperation with health insurers and the government, to ensure employers and the self-employed maintain health insurance coverage for Bermuda's workforce. The pamphlet can be found at www.bhec.bm.
