Government House seeking a chef

Government House is on the lookout for an executive chef with a background in traditional and healthy gourmet cuisine.

According to an advert in the Bermuda Sun, the successful applicant must be creative, dependable, hardworking, able to work in a high volume kitchen and be able to cater for large numbers.

Responsibilities for the 40 hours per week post — replacing a departing chef described as a team player with skills and imagination — will include menu planning and costing, and buying food and supplies.

Meanwhile the new cook for Premier Ewart Brown's luxury private home has not yet commenced duties.

The $60,000-plus house manager post — for a very good cook who can clean and entertain at Dr. Brown's Gombey House — was advertised by Cabinet last August.

Five applicants were whittled down to two through an interview process, and a recommendation has now been made to the Public Service Commission, from which approval is being sought.
