Govt heartened by feedback to education strategy
The Ministry of Education has received almost 50 submissions on its five-year strategic plan.
Government's Blueprint for Reform in Education was released last month, at which time the public was encouraged to submit feedback. "Most are from organisations and represent a group of persons," an education spokesman said. "Others are from individuals."
Government had been "heartened" by the degree of public response, the official added.
"The quality of the responses and questions show a deep level of commitment and interest in education. We have many who have offered to assist us as well. They also have asked for continued dialogue throughout the process of implementation."
All recommendations will be considered, the spokesman added. "Particularly when there are comments or themes that are repeated over and over. This tells us that we need to listen and act on those recommendations."
Amendments to the plan will be made once all submissions have been reviewed.
"However, we have some of the plan already in action, for example the adoption of the new curriculum and the preparation for September's full implementation," the spokesman said. The deadline for submissions was last Saturday.
