The community is being urged to come out in force and support a "Groovin' to the Sounds of Motown" fund-raiser for The Family Centre tonight.

Executive Director of The Family Centre, Martha Dismont, said: "This is a time for individuals to come out and have a great time for an important cause.

"The funds that are raised go towards The Family Centre's early intervention 'Caring for Families' counselling, after school, parent education and family support services.

"In an environment which is somewhat unpredictable, for generating sufficient revenue to operate programmes, we have chosen to self-generate revenue through hosting a major annual fund-raiser event.

"We are very grateful to the dedicated volunteers who have spent tireless hours to put this event together, and our valuable sponsors.

"This year we are happy to introduce the 'Slammin' Band', an eight member band, live from NYC, considered one of the hottest bands on the East Coast. We expect to dance the night away with their show stopping selections of Motown music."

"Groovin' to the Sounds of Motown" takes place on Saturday, September 20, at the Fairmont Southampton Resort Poinciana Ballroom, starting at 7 p.m.
