Greenrock seeks input on new Draft Bermuda Plan
An environmental group has launched a campaign to encourage the public to review and give input during the consultation period of the Draft Bermuda Plan.
The Draft Bermuda Plan 2008 was released to the public on Friday, June 6 and residents have until October 3 to comment.
Greenrock, a registered charity focused on sustainable development of Bermuda, wants to ensure that anyone with interest in a "real change" gets active and participate while they can.
The Bermuda Plan was last reviewed in 1992 and in those 16 years, according to Greenrock construction, energy efficiency, waste disposal, water disposal and the way in which Bermuda has evolved has changed.
That's why, according to Andrew Vaucrosson, President of Greenrock, they are launching the campaign. He said: "The new Plan plays an important role in how Bermuda will be developed in years to come.
"It will be a turning point to ensure present and future development is done in a sustainable manner. Our goal is to get people to review this document and submit their opinion on what sort of things they would like to see included or expanded in the current Draft.
"The important thing to realize is that Bermuda's Planning process will be guided by this document. So, if you want to see real change, you need to take the time to review and respond to Development Plan."
Greenrock is cooperating with B.E.S.T and Bermuda National Trust in the reviewing process and Greenrock will also be gathering people's opinions and present them to the Department of Planning.
They will also be distributing E-flyers to get their message out.
