Lions Clubs from across Bermuda are teaming up with Market Place to distribute Christmas food hampers to needy families.

As part of the Share the Christmas Spirit programme, customers are asked to buy or bring tins of non-perishable food and put them into the displays dotted around the stores.

Lions will then collect the groceries and put them into hampers to give people a little extra festive cheer. Last year, 450 hampers were presented to families, but organisers believe this year more people will be in need.

The campaign was launched outside Hamilton Market Place with schoolchildren singing Christmas songs.
