Impaired driver, 70, is banned from the roads
A 70-year-old Paget man who admitted to drinking and driving was banned from the Island's roads for 12 months.
Donald Perry, of Bostock Hill West, admitted to driving while impaired on June 26 on Trimingham Road in Paget. The court heard that Police on mobile patrol at 12.15 a.m. saw Perry swerving from left to right over the centre yellow line.
They pulled him over and asked if he had had anything to drink, to which he replied: "Just a couple".
Perry, who got out of the vehicle and appeared unsteady on his feet, was given a breathalyser test which showed he had 134 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system. The legal limit is 80.
In addition to the driving ban, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Perry $1,000 and ten demerit points.
