Island hoteliers welcome new WestJet service
The Hotel Association has welcomed the new low-cost air service between Bermuda and Toronto.
Premier and Minister of Tourism Ewart Brown announced last Wednesday that WestJet will begin daily service in May. An introductory offer means the cost of a round trip will be as low as $415 including taxes.
Responding to the news, Hotel Association President J.P. Martens said: "The directors and members of the BHA wish to congratulate the Premier and all the technical officers within the Ministry of Tourism and Transport for seeking and securing the WestJet service from Canada to Bermuda."
He said the new service "gives Bermuda an opportunity to aggressively pursue and attract more visitors from a region that has tremendous opportunity for growth."
Mr. Martens added that the BHA is committed to supporting the new service, but also wishes to thank established carrier Air Canada for its support.
