Joint Select committee on Education formed
A bipartisan parliamentary group is finally poised to be appointed to oversee the reform of education in Bermuda.
A motion tabled by Education Minister Randolph Horton for a joint select committee was approved in the House of Assembly last night. (FRI)
Mr. Horton first tabled the motion last June but MPs were told Government had not had time to move on the issue due to the summer recess, general election and budget.
Last night, the Minister told the House Government would put forward its nominations within the next few days.
Shadow Education Minister Grant Gibbons, who has long been calling for such a group to implement the recommendations of last year's damning Hopkins Report, said he hoped the committee's meetings would be open to the public.
