Minister Burch in Jamaica

Home Affairs Minister David Burch is in Jamaica discussing the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and other matters with CARICOM leaders.

Tourism, immigration, trade and the economic crisis are also on the agenda at the 31st regular meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Senator Burch and civil service head Kenneth Dill will join representatives from Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago and Dominica at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa for sessions today, tomorrow and Wednesday.

"The agenda is one that looks to address a number of common areas of concern for Bermuda and the Caribbean region," said Sen. Burch in a statement.

"Therefore, I am very pleased to be representing Bermuda and the Government, because this is an important forum and there is tremendous value in Bermuda being present and having a voice at the table at meetings of this level."
