Minister pledges to make Archives more accessible
Public Information Services Minister Neletha Butterfield has pledged to make the Bermuda Archives more accessible, following last year's critical report from the Ombudsman.
Ms Butterfield told MPs on Friday she had been taking stock of her new Ministry and the various services it offered to the public and ways it could increase public awareness. As Minister in charge of Government's Information Technology Office (ITO), she said she supported refurbishing computers so they could be used again.
And she said it was important for Bermuda to stay at the cutting edge of web technology, especially at Public Libraries. The Island's libraries also fall under Ms Butterfield's remit and she said they had to keep up with modern innovations, such as the Kindle and e-books.
Concluding her contribution to the Throne Speech debate, Ms Butterfield said she believed Government's goal was to "restore the public confidence" and it was important for it to do so.
