Music Fest overseas adverts cost $95,000
The final costs for the Bermuda Music Festival were released yesterday with taxpayers paying almost $95,000 for overseas advertising.
In Parliamentary questions to Junior Tourism Minister Marc Bean, Opposition Senate Leader Michael Dunkley asked what the final expenditure was for the music festival and for a complete list of the budget.
The Department of Tourism paid $1.9 million for the festival costing every single taxpayer $29 whether or not they went to see Quincy Jones and Friends.
Festival producers had until the end of the year to realise the final figures which are slightly different from figures released in December.
For overseas ads, the original cost was $90,337 and the final cost is $95,833. Local advertising cost $64,248 and dropped to $63,267 at the final budget.
Production costs were originally $327,083 but the number was changed to $373,010.
Taxpayers paid $48,614 for hotel accommodations for the artists who performed at the festival and $110,000 in air travel.
And production related travel was listed at $89,423 in the preliminary expenditure but was changed to $98,878 at the final expenditure.
