Parents and students invited to college fair
public, opens at the Princess Hotel tomorrow morning.
High school students, their parents and other prospective students will have the chance to learn more about the US or UK colleges or universities of their choice at the three-day fair which ends Saturday.
It will provide direct access to about 40 representatives of overseas colleges and universities. Financial information, application forms and course information can be obtained.
Some schools have been invited to attend on Thursday while others have Friday free. There is also a special parents session from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday. And at 4 p.m. on Friday, a tour of Bermuda College is planned.
Saturday has been designated Bermuda College Transfer Students Day. The public is invited to attend on all three days.
The fair, being sponsored by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with Boston's Ron Ancrum Consultants Inc., takes place in the Princess Room.
Some of the colleges and universities being represented (both British and American) include American International, Atlantic Union, Babson, Bay State, Becker, Berkeley College of Music, Brevard, Emmerson, Endicott, Fisher, Howard, Keele, Kent Institute of Art and Design, King's College, Long Island University, Lynn, Mount Ida, Spelman, Syracuse, Temple, University of Kent, the University of Bristol, Wentworth Institute and Wheelock.
There may also be some last minute additions.
Canadian institutions were invited but chose not to attend because they mainly recruit grade 12 graduates and not those just out of high school, a spokesperson said.
