Police arrested two men this weekend in relation to firearm offences.

In the early hours of Saturday morning officers arrested a 27-year-old St. George's man and a 29-year-old Hamilton Parish man on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

Both men are due to appear in court soon.

On Thursday, a 60-year-old American woman was also arrested for possessing an empty ammunition clip, an object used to store multiple rounds of bullets. A Police report read: "On Thursday 10th September Customs Officers at the L.F.W. International Airport alerted Police to a 60 year old American woman who having just arrived on the Island was subject to a secondary inspection by H.M. Customs and was found in possession of an empty ammunition clip.

"She was subsequently arrested by Police on suspicion of offences contrary to the Firearms Act and remains in Police custody whilst inquiries into the matter are completed."
