Premier and Faldo discuss Island golf plan
This weekend Premier Dr. Ewart Brown met with the man who will redesign the St. George's Golf Course — Nick Faldo — to discuss the new facility.
Mr. Faldo is considered the most successful European golfer of all time, and currently stands as the reigning European Ryder Cup Captain. He also runs Faldo Design, along with being the lead golf analyst for CBS Sports.
The pair met in Michigan during the PGA Championship in Bloomfield Township.
The new course is intended to be a major part of the new Park Hyatt resort, which will replace the old Club Med resort in St. George's.
"My company has an excellent working relationship with Carl Bazarian and his development team," said Mr. Faldo. "I am thrilled to be designing a golf course in Bermuda in such a superb beautiful and historic location."
Faldo Designs has previously built courses in 14 different countries, including Germany, the UK, China, Vietnam, the US and Canada, earning numerous awards.
"Spending time with Nick Faldo reminded me how fortunate Bermuda is to have a name like Faldo associated with out tourism product," said Dr. Brown. "It will help make our Island more of a lure for vacationers who love golf and Bermudians who love golf."
