Premier enjoys 'open dialogue' on world issues with young leaders

Premier Ewart Brown hosted members of the Bermuda chapter of the Young Presidents' Organisation (YPO) at Camden this week.

Nearly 20 guests attended the lunch, where they discussed the global economic climate and its impact on Bermuda.

"I really enjoy having conversations where the dialogue is open and everyone's ideas and concerns are fully aired," said Dr. Brown.

"They were a particularly good audience because they are in tune to what's happening economically around the world and how Bermuda is impacted. I was able to talk to them a little bit about (Monday night's) speech and this weekend's Council of Economic Advisors' meeting and gauge their feedback."

An international network of young global business leaders founded in 1950, YPO "connects more than 11,000 members in 205 chapters and more than 100 nations, (helping them) to learn, exchange ideas and share strategies to address the challenges young leaders face today".

Said the group's education officer Aaron Smith: "(Monday's) meeting greatly supported that goal as our members were able to enjoy an up-close, personal and often frank discussion with the Premier.

"We were able to ask questions and share experiences, thoughts and ideas and I believe this was mutually beneficial. Our members valued this unique access to the Premier and look forward to future meetings."

He added: "YPO's goal is to provide better leaders through education and idea exchange."
