The US Consulate is holding its annual July 4 celebrations tomorrow, with tickets sold out.

The Consulate is expecting the event to have over 7,000 guests with volunteers from over 60 of Bermuda's charities providing manpower to help it run smoothly.

With over ten percent of the Island expected to be attending, the consulate hopes to entertain guests with a number of activities and events for all ages.

The party will also feature four live bands and the annual fireworks display, expected to stretch over 20 minutes this year. Food and drink will also be available.

For the second year, the Ministry of Tourism and Transport will provide the event with free public transportation, both buses and ferries, for anyone wearing the event's wristbands.

For those taking their own vehicles, parking at No. 1 shed will be free between 6 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. for those with the wristbands.

Last year's celebration boasted around 6,000 guests, making it the largest July 4 celebration outside the US.

In a letter sent to The Royal Gazette, US Consul General Gregory Slayton thanked the organisers and charities involved, and asked guests to use the available public transportation as much as possible.

"We are expecting 7,000 guests," wrote Mr. Slayton. "So let me strongly encourage all confirmed guests to use the special mass transit that has been especially organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Transport for the celebration."

The event will run from 6 to 10 p.m. at Moresby Plain, Ireland Island North.

While sponsors will be given complementary wristbands, which allow entry to the party, other members of the American Society of Bermuda will have to buy their own at City Hall between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. today.

Wristbands cost $20 for adults, and $10 for anyone between two and 17.The tickets are sold out and are not available as stated in the Royal Gazette

A schedule for the transportation is available on the American Society website, www.americansocietyofbermuda.com.
