Regis Philbin mentions the Island on his morning show

Bermuda not only won Condé Nast Traveler magazine's best Island in the Caribbean/Atlantic award, it also got a shout out from popular morning host Regis Philbin.

Live with Regis and Kelly, which attracts five million viewers a day, mentioned the Island during yesterday's show.

"Congratulating Bermuda," Mr. Philbin said on air.

He went on to discuss meeting Department of Tourism Director William Griffith at the Condé Nast award show on Tuesday night and mentioned the size 36 inch Bermuda shorts Mr. Griffith presented him with before airing a photo of the two at the award show.

Yesterday, Premier and Minister of Tourism Ewart Brown said: "This is a fantastic honour for Bermuda. And Regis Philbin presenting us with the award has translated into wonderful coverage for Bermuda.

"We have been consistent for seven years now in delivering a quality tourism product, and the results continue to pay off.

"I want to congratulate all on the Island who are part of our tourism industry. Collectively you have made us a success."

Mr. Griffith added: "We are honoured that Bermuda was selected by Condé Nast Traveler readers as the number one travel destination.

"It is a privilege to be ranked so favourably with travellers and is a testament to the commitment of service that Bermuda provides to travellers every season."

More than 30,000 Condé Nast Traveler's dedicated readers choose the winners.

In addition, The Reefs Bermuda was named number one resort in the Atlantic Ocean category.

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards, is considered to be one of the top honours in the travel industry.

The widely distributed publication celebrates the best-of-the-best in hotels, airlines, resorts, cruise lines, cities, and islands.
