Rider was twice over the drink drive limit
A Pembroke man caught riding a motorcycle with two times the legal limit of alcohol in his body was fined $1,000 yesterday.
Helder Costa, of Cedar Park Road, was also issued ten demerit points by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner.
Magistrates' Court heard that the 27-year-old was seen by Police, passing over the centre line while riding his cycle east on South Road on September 6 at 1.18 a.m. The officers also noticed he was travelling at a high speed.
Costa was pulled over at Dunscombe Road in Warwick and told him to get off his bike, at which point he stumbled and almost fell to the ground. He admitted to Police he had a few beers before driving that night and was later charged with the offence.
A breathalyser test found he had 161 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg per 100 ml of blood.
In addition to the fine and the demerits, Mr. Warner banned Costa from driving for 12 months.
