In a three-quarter page advertisement in The Royal Gazette four positions -- chief executive officer, vice president finance, vice president facilities and engineering and vice president commercial development -- were advertised.

The BLDC is a new company with a mandate to develop the former military base properties encompassing more than 800 acres.

It will develop these lands which will then be integrated back into the community.

"We are advertising locally because this is to be a Bermudian company,'' spokesman Don Grearson said. "These will be the permanent jobs for the company and they will represent its core functions.'' However he said the chief executive officer position will be advertised overseas if no qualified Bermudian is found.

"We are aiming to have the chief executive officer in place by January 15,'' Mr. Grearson explained. "So we are under a time constraint.
