Stabbing victim alleges defendant tried to intimidate him
An attack victim yesterday claimed the man accused of trying to kill him approached him in the street before his trial and said: "You need to drop these charges."
Kevon Albouy — who allegedly suffered six knife wounds after being set upon by three men in July last year — said Joshua Wolffe had spoken to him on Monday and Tuesday last week in connection with the case.
As well as attempted murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, Wolffe, 24, also denies intimidating a witness and two counts of perverting the course of justice.
Continuing to give evidence on day two of the Supreme Court trial yesterday, Mr. Albouy described two encounters with Wolffe less than a week before the trial began. He said that on Monday last week he saw Wolffe in town, and the defendant yelled obscenities at him.
Asked by Director of Public Prosecutions Rory Field how that made him feel, Mr. Albouy replied: "I was irritated but I didn't retaliate. The way he was looking at me, he was aggressive towards me."
Mr. Albouy said the following day he was walking toward Greg's Steakhouse on Church Street with his girlfriend when he realised Wolffe was following him.
"He said: 'You need to drop the charges'," said Mr. Albouy.
Mr. Albouy said Wolffe had spoken in a "normal tone", adding: "It wasn't aggressive; it wasn't threatening; it was normal.
"I didn't care. I just don't care. I don't care. I'm not going to drop the charges."
Later, under cross-examination from Wolffe's lawyer Larry Scott, Mr. Albouy said of the encounter: "It's not easy to ignore somebody that you feel tried to kill you."
On the opening day of the trial, Mr. Albouy had said three men — Wolffe, Steven Iris and Leshaun Scott — had attacked him while he sat in his mother's car near Five Star Island, Southampton.
He said the assault continued after he ran into the road, and claimed Wolffe had a knife, Iris a metal chain and padlock, and Scott a broomstick.
Yesterday, Larry Scott put forward a sequence of events he believed had happened, but which Mr. Albouy denied. Mr. Scott suggested Mr. Albouy had been involved in a fight at Southampton Princess and went to Five Star Island to collect some weed, before getting attacked by the same people he fought at the Princess.
"No, I don't agree," argued Mr. Albouy.
Wolffe, of Cockburn Road, Sandys, is in the dock on his own after Iris and Scott both admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The case continues.
