Students invited to paint city hoardings
Middle school students will get the chance to show off their artistic flair on large canvases in the city.
Developers of the former Waterloo House, the Green family and Berco Ltd., are offering the huge hoardings in front of the Pitts Bay Road construction site as a canvas to create a mural.
The theme of the competition is 'Bermuda, My Home'. It is being organised by Masterworks Museum and sponsored by Berco.
The ten best sketches will be chosen. Students will have the chance to win $8,000 in prizes for their schools.
Andrew Green, of Berco Ltd. said: "The Green family is delighted to work with the schools of Bermuda for them to display their talents and to enhance the site with scenes from Bermuda. We are very grateful for the support from these schools and Masterworks and hope that these works will give pleasure to both tourists and the people of Bermuda."
Details of the competition can be found at www.bermudamasterworks.com. The deadline for sketch submissions is Friday, March 26. Artists must complete work on the site by the week of April 12.
