Supervisor Edmund light up the city
with Christmas lights.
And it will be the same story this year as the Corporation of Hamilton supervisor takes charge of spreading Christmas trees and lights around the city.
"Every year we try and do things a little differently by decorating in different areas,'' said Mr. Faria yesterday.
"When I first started this job we were using five or six thousand light bulbs. Now we use over ten thousand.
"People want us to extend the lights but we can't make everyone happy.'' This year, in fact, the Corporation is short of decorations and is patiently awaiting the arrival of more supplies.
"If everything comes in on time, Hamilton will be completely decorated by next Friday,'' Mr. Faria assured.
He noted that most of the lights and trees were put up on weekends because of the lighter traffic flow through Hamilton.
Christmas trees have already arrived and are being sorted according to size.
Mr. Faria said six trees between 20 and 25 feet had arrived along with four 14-ft. trees. Smaller trees would arrive next week.
In total, Hamilton will show off some 15 Christmas trees, all expertly decorated.
"The best of the large trees will go to the Flag Pole,'' said Mr. Faria, "because everyone sees that area.
"And the other big trees will go to Albouy's Point, and across from the Transport Control Department on North Street.
"The 14-ft. trees will be used for places such as the top of the bus terminal, Number Eight shed, inside City Hall and for some businesses.'' TREE-MENDOUS -- Corporation of Hamilton supervisor Mr. Edmund Faria examines some of the trees that will help decorate the city this Christmas.
