A teenager is in intensive care after smashing his head on rocks when he dived off Riddell's Bay Docks in Southampton yesterday.

The 19-year-old man sustained a deep gash to his forehead, split nose and lip and several cuts to his upper body in the incident at about 5.25 p.m.

Police say it appears a group of youths had been running a distance and jumping off the docks.

The victim was last night said to be in a stable condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
