The right thing, right reason and right time – local muslim man writes

I write this article in light of the present situation Bermuda finds itself in regarding the Premier's decision to aid the United States in closing a repressive and oppressive establishment known as Guantánamo.

However, in doing so, I personally feel he — the Premier — has been guided by a force higher than ourselves to carry out an act of humanitarianism and mercy, second to no other decision that man could make throughout the annals of history.

As a Muslim who believes there is No God but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger, my Holy Book, the Qur'an makes it very clear that Allah moves his spirit on the heart of man to bring about an act of goodness and mercy.

Without the very decree of Allah, the Uighur Muslims would not have been freed and they would not be in Bermuda. In other words, God has chosen their freedom and their place of landing.

Every square inch of this earth belongs to God. Mankind has no say in that, whatsoever.

Whether we like it or not Allah has seen fit to use the Premier of this tiny country as the vehicle to exercise his wisdom and great power.

This act by the Premier has touched millions of people around the world in a very positive way.

It was the right thing to do, for the right reason, at the right time.

There is no government or heads of state that needed to be consulted to carry out an act of mercy of this high magnitude other than God Himself!

When God moves on the very hearts of man or woman, you can expect nothing else but good to be the end result.

Bermuda, don't judge the Premier for your personal aggrandisement.

But instead embrace the act of mercy and compassion that is presently resonating around the world to millions of others, who might be in an oppressive situation and they too feel they might receive help from somewhere.

"A good deed is better than a bad seed."

I, as a Muslim, pray for the safety of my four Muslim brothers.

And I look forward to bowing my head in prayer with them. I thank Allah for them and I thank Allah for giving the Premier the courage to make such a bold step in the way of humanitarianism.

I encourage all religious leaders in this country to embrace the Premier's decision.

There is only one God and He is the only authority in this matter. May Allah continue to shower us with His mercy and wisdom.

On another note, to compare a fundamental violation of the Constitution by the Premier with an act of compassion and humanitarianism to a fellow human being, guided by God's mercy, is absolutely ridiculous. Bermuda — please get a grip!
