Tourists offered 30% off Music Festival tickets

The Bermuda Department of Tourism has joined forces with Expedia.com to offer tourists 30 percent off Bermuda Music Festival tickets.

Tourists who book any flight and hotel package to Bermuda on the travel website between now and October 12, receive the discount on one-day tickets and multi-day passes.

Featured performers for the annual event this year held October 29 to 31, include Quincy Jones, Patti Austin, Erykah Badu, James Ingram, Wyclef Jean, John Legend, Michael McDonald, Kenny Rogers and Naturally 7. Questions were put to the Department of Tourism last week asking how many tickets had been sold on the Island and abroad. A spokesman said the department had "no comment at this time".

The three-day event, dubbed 'Quincy Jones and Friends', will include a special performance of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' 25 years after the best-selling album of all-time was produced by Mr. Jones. Premier Ewart Brown will honour Mr. Jones' lifetime contributions to culture and humanity with the African Diaspora Heritage Trail Award during the weekend's festivities.

Dr. Brown has said he selected Mr. Jones because of his musical and philanthropic contributions including the star-studded collaboration 'We Are the World'. The best-selling single of all time, it was produced and arranged by Mr. Jones and raised $63 million for famine relief in Ethiopia.
