Warwick man admits impaired driving
A Warwick man involved in a two-car collision, was banned from the road and fined $800 after he admitted driving under the influence of alcohol.
Gary Hart, 58, pleaded guilty to the offence in Magistrates' Court. Prosecutor Maria Sofianos told the court Police responded to a two-vehicle collision just before midnight on July 31.
Hart was driving one of the damaged vehicles. Officers noticed that he was unsteady on his feet and smelled strongly of liquor.
When asked, he admitted to officers that he had been drinking. Hart was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station. A breath test found he had 212 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, more than double the legal limit of 80 milligrams.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo also issued Hart ten demerit points.
