Airport's first class lounge to be refurbished
The L.F. Wade International Airport's first class lounge will be refurbished by Rock Media.
Minister Derrick Burgess told the House of Assembly on Friday that the Department of Airport Operation had negotiated the deal.
He said: "To ensure the continued enhancement of the appearance of the terminal and improve upon the passengers' experience, the Department of Airport Operations has arranged for a light box display depicting Bermuda Longtail.
This eye-catching installation is located in the new powered seating area in the departures lounge which allows passengers to charge devices such as iPods, cell phones and lap tops.
"The DAO has negotiated with the airport's advertising concessionaire, Rock Media, to invest in the complete refurbishment of the airport First Class Lounge for the private enjoyment of travelling first class passengers."
Rock Media, which is locally registered, was incorporated in February 2006 and listed Bermudian Calvin White as being the sole shareholder. James Kerwin, of Oxford Communications and Kerwin Communications, both of which have contracts with the Department of Tourism, is also involved in the company.
Rock Media proclaims itself to be Bermuda's foremost out-of-home media company. It is responsible for all advertising signage in Bermuda's bus shelters as well as all display signage in Bermuda's L.F. Wade International Airport.
