Appeal to seniors to mentor youth

YouthNet is reaching out to seniors this week, trying to find more volunteers to mentor Bermuda's youth.
As part of their efforts, next Tuesday the organisation is holding a seniors recruitment reception at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute between 4 and 6 p.m., where seniors and friends will be provided with refreshments and told more about the programme.
The focus for this year's recruitment drive is the reading/mentoring programme, which asks seniors and retirees to spend one hour reading to primary school students in class, along with being a role model and a friend to the students.
On May 27, YouthNet staff, board members, mentors and students greeted the public on East Broadway to begin their annual recruitment drive.
