Pedestrian, motorcyclist injured in road crash
A 10-year-old pedestrian and 17-year-old rider of a motorcycle were taken to hospital via ambulance after a collision yesterday morning.
Police attended the scene, near Warwick Post Office, around 7.30 a.m. According to Police, the driver of the motorcycle, from Sandys, struck the pedestrian, from Warwick, while he crossed the street at a marked pedestrian crossing.
While it appears that traffic had stopped to let the boy cross the street, the motorcycle rider, who was heading east on Middle Road still collided with the boy.
The 17-year-old sustained facial injuries while the condition of the 10-year-old is currently unknown.
Police inquiries into this incident are underway.
Burglars hit five homes on Wednesday
Police responded to five burglaries on Wednesday, four of which were in Smith's parish.
The first report of a burglary was received by Police at 10 a.m. from Crest View Road, Smith's Home. The complainant stated that sometime between 1.30 p.m. and 8.45 p.m. on Tuesday someone entered their home. stealing a quantity of loose change.
At 1.35 p.m. Police received a report of a break-in at Pigeon Berry Lane, Smith's residence. The complainants explained that sometime between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday a person unknown to them entered their home and stole a 42-inch flat screen Panasonic television.
Later, at 4.20 p.m. Police received a report of burglary at a Knapton Estates Road Smith's parish residence. Sometime between 2.20 p.m. and 4.45 p.m. someone broke into their home while it was unoccupied stated the complainant.
The thief made off with 42-inch Westinghouse flat screen TV, a Mac Book Pro laptop computer, a Rolex watch and a pink I-Pod Nano.
A burglary at a Valley View Lane, Smith's parish home was reported to Police at 5.40 p.m. According to the complainants, sometime between 6.55 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. a person unknown to them broke into their home while they were out.
The thief stole a black HP laptop computer as well as a quantity of jewellery, electronic items and personal items.
Around noon on Wednesday Police were informed of a burglary at a Southampton Road, Southampton home. The complainant said that an unknown culprit stole a black 30-inch flat screen TV, a Nintendo Wii video game system, a BlackBerry cellular phone, a black I-Pod Touch and a quantity of jewellery between 11.05 a.m. and 11.45 a.m. that day.
Police inquiries into these incidents are underway.
