Man denies assault

A 30-year-old man was yesterday charged with unlawful assault and threatening injury.

David Cox was flanked by four Police officers for his Magistrates' Court appearance.

The Smith's resident pleaded not guilty to the charges, which stem from an alleged incident on Thursday near an increased penalty zone – Pigs Field Park in Pembroke.

Cox was represented by lawyer Craig Attridge.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner granted Cox bail in the amount of $5,000 and ordered him to appear back to court for trial on May 14.

Burglars hit homes

Police attended two reported burglaries on Friday where one burglar stole cash and the other took nothing.

At 9.10 p.m., Police received a report of a burglary at a Tree Lane, Paget residence.

The complainants said that sometime between 7.45 a.m. and 8.20 a.m. that day, a burglar entered their home while they weren't there and stole a set of US commemorative coins, cash and personal items.

Earlier that night at 7.05, Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a White Sands Road, Paget residence.

The complainant said sometime between 7.30 a.m. and 4.45 p.m. that day, a burglar entered his home but took nothing.

Police are investigating both matters.
