A 25-year-old led Police on a high-speed chase through Pembroke yesterday before abandoning his motorcycle and taking refuge in a private home.

The man was eventually arrested and searched by officers, and found to be in possession of suspected drugs.

According to a Police spokesperson, officers on mobile patrol spotted the man around noon yesterday, riding a motorcycle "in an erratic manner" at the junction of Palmetto Road and Cedar Avenue.

"Officers followed the individual and a pursuit ensued," the spokesperson stated.

"The individual then led officers on a chase through western Pembroke. After that, the individual went to St. John's Hill Road where he eventually abandoned his vehicle and made his way into a residence on Hill Crescent. Officers maintained observation of the residence, which the 25-year-old Pembroke man subsequently exited. He was promptly arrested. The Pembroke man was also in possession of a quantity of what is believed to be an illegal substance."

Inquiries into the incident are underway.
