Breaking News: 22-year-old man target of shooting
UPDATED: Police are hunting two men after shots were fired at a 22-year-old man in Pembroke this morning.
Witnesses said three gunshots were heard near Spanish Point Boat Club. No one was hurt in the shooting, according to an eyewitness who spoke with The Royal Gazette.
The resident said the intended target ran through her garden seconds after the shots were heard shouting: “Are they gone yet? Are they gone yet?”
She said: “He jumped my wall and ran past. He then turned around and tried to get into my 79-year-old mother’s house. I told him, ‘No you don’t. Get out of here.’ He turned and yelled: ‘Are they gone yet? Are they gone yet?’ before running off.”
The woman said the man, in his mid-20s, lost his jacket in his attempt to flee.
She added that police arrived on the scene within minutes.
A Police spokesman said: "Around 11.25am, Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident in the Spanish Point Road, Pembroke, area. It appears that a firearm was discharged at a 22-year-old Pembroke man. The Pembroke man managed to flee the scene on foot uninjured. The suspects, two men on a motorcycle, made good their escape.
"An active investigation is underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses; particularly anyone who may have seen two men on a motorcycle acting suspiciously in the area prior to the incident or anyone with any information to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477."
