Breaking News: BFA calls urgent meeting over football violence
Bermuda Football Association (BFA) have admitted that the level of gang-related violence at football matches has become too much for them to tackle alone.
Football chiefs have called an urgent special congress meeting with all clubs and will also hold talks with Sports Minister Glenn Blakeney and the Bermuda Police Service.
A root and branch review of each clubs’ security will be performed following last Saturday’s attack at Southampton Rangers Social Club which saw a taxi carrying Boulevard Blazers players set upon by weapon-wielding thugs.
“The events that occurred at the Southampton Rangers Social Club remind us once again that this anti-social behavioural problem that is being manifested between and among rival groups and gangs is bigger than the BFA and our clubs can tackle alone,” read a BFA press statement.
