There is no truth to E-mails currently circulating that say residents are exempt from paying stamp duty on their primary family homestead, the Government warned today,

The advisory was issued after the discovery of several unauthorised and “misleading” E-mails — one which has ‘Office of the Tax Commissioner’ at the bottom.

“The origin of the E-mails is unknown but the public should be aware that neither of the messages were authorized by the Office of the Tax Commissioner and the content of the E-mails do not represent the policies and procedures of the Tax Commissioner,” said a spokesperson.
