Armed Police swooped on a Warwick neighbourhood after a shooting this afternoon.

One person received injuries described as not life threatening in the attack, which happened about 3 p.m. in the Spice Hill Road/Khyber Pass area.

Neighbours claimed that the victim — a young man was had been working on a nearby construction site — was riding a motorbike as he was shot.

They said the shot came from another bike carrying two men.

Police have not yet confirmed those details.

A spokesman would say only that a person had been injured in a shooting and that it was being investigated. The scene was cordoned off until about 5 p.m. as a sniffer dog and forensics officers scoured the vicinity.

A male resident said: “I live right opposite and I heard [something that sounded like] ‘bam-bam’. I looked out and I didn’t see anything.”

A female neighbour, 23, said she was told that a gun shell was found outside her garden hedge in Khyber Heights Road.
