Breaking News: Man stands trial for Court Street shooting
The trial of a man accused of shooting at Raymond “Yankee” Rawlins on Court Street last December began at Supreme Court today.
Anthony Swan, 22, from Pembroke, is alleged to have arrived on Court Street dressed all in black and fired shots at Mr. Rawlins as he sat in a van outside his family’s store, according to prosecutor Carrington Mahoney.
Mr. Rawlins, 47, from Court Street, was not injured in the incident on the morning of December 16, 2009. However, he was shot dead in a later shooting on Court Street on August 9 this year.
Swan is accused of possessing a gun and three bullets, unlawfully discharging the gun, possessing it with intent to injure and shooting at Mr. Rawlins with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He is further accused of the aggravated taking of a motorcycle.
He denies all the charges. See tomorrow’s edition of The Royal Gazette for the full story.
