Breaking News: Plea to turn in gunman
Police today appealed for the family and friends of suspected fugitive gunman Omari Gordon to turn him in as they described him as a threat to public safety.
Detectives held a lunchtime press conference marking the fourth day of their manhunt for Gordon, who is thought to have fired at three officers in Middletown in the early hours of Saturday following a chase across the back of town.
Superintendent Paul Wright, head of the Serious and Organised Crime Division, told the media Gordon was a threat by virtue of the fact the incident involved a firearm, adding: “Bermuda Police Service understands and appreciates the heightened level of concern in the community that will typically follow a serious incident like this.
“To date, we have had some information coming in to us, but not sufficient to trace the suspect.”
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Steven Lightbourne said he wanted to make a special appeal to Gordon’s friends and family, explaining: “Everyone will be safe if he comes in on his own.”
