Breaking News: Police search for fugitive Maybury underway

Police swooped on The Glebe Road in Pembroke this evening after a report that fugitive Alvone Maybury was hiding in a house here.

Armed officers with sniffer dogs are currently performing a second search of a white building and the road has been sealed off.

The officers arrived at the house shortly after 4 p.m. About 20 officers are now on the scene.

A Police spokesman said: "We believe Mr. Maybury may be in the area. In an abundance of caution Police have cordoned off the area of Glebe Road where they are conducting searches for this individual. First, let us take the opportunity to apologise to members of the community in this specific neighbourhood who have been inconvenienced for a long period of time."

A special taskforce comprised of Police and Department of Corrections officers was established last week to search for Maybury.

The spokesman continued: "They are leaving no stone unturned as they look for Alvone Maybury and we want to make it very clear - we will find him. We are going door to door so, as you can imagine, it's a very exhaustive process. We are asking for people's indulgence, we are asking for their patience."
