Breaking News: Recommendations over residential home after complaints

Major improvements to standards of practice will be made at Summerhaven residential home following an independent review.

Staff will no longer be allowed to sleep on the night shift and will all undergo CPR and first aid training, as part of a string of recommendations by former US ombudsman Glenn Wachter.

The home must also purchase basic health care diagnostic equipment such as a thermometer and blood glucose monitor.

Government announced the review late last year, in response to complaints from staff and residents at the Smith’s facility.
