Police believe a man was shot after a private gambling party was targeted by robbers.

Richard Gaglio, 62, remains critically ill in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following the shooting in the home at Hinson’s Lane Smith’s, at 1.35 a.m. yesterday. He remains critically ill today.

Chief Inspector Antoine Daniels told a press conference this afternoon that only a small amount of money was stolen during the incident.

However, he said the offenders may have thought there was more cash on the premises, telling the media: “Our initial inquiries indicate this was not a random residence targeted. This house is used for organised gambling.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help with their investigation. The suspects are described as black men, one shorter than the other.

Anyone with information should contact Police on 295-0011 or the confidential CrimeStoppers hotline on 800-623-8477 (TIPS).
