Canadian woman charged with importing drugs
A Canadian woman has been charged with importing $1.7 million worth of drugs into Bermuda on a WestJet flight from Toronto.
Janet Grant, a 46-year-old Ontario resident, is alleged to have possessed cannabis, cocaine and heroin on Thursday October 21.
She was also accused of possessing with intent to supply heroin valued at $1.4 million and cocaine valued at $370,000. Court documents did not state how much cannabis she is accused of possessing.
Grant was arrested after the drugs were allegedly found in her hand luggage after she arrived at L.F Wade International Airport.
She was not required to enter a plea when she appeared at Magistrates' Court, because the matter must be dealt with by the Supreme court.
She must return to court on November 4 for an administrative hearing and was remanded into custody in the meantime.
