Cannabis found on three men
Three men have admitted to charges of cannabis possession in a series of unrelated incidents when they appeared in Magistrates' Court.
Aaron Trott, 26, was caught with 3.4 grams of cannabis near a park on St. Monica's Road, in Pembroke, on June 18.
Calvin Wilson, of Pembroke, was found with 2.4 grams of cannabis. At the time he was within metres of Par-la-Ville Park, an increased penalty zone.
Police caught 50-year-old Dwight Bucher with 0.34 grams of the drug, on June 30.
Magistrates' Court heard that Trott, of Devonshire, was arrested near a park on St. Monica's Road.
Officers on patrol in the area around 5.28 p.m., saw a handful of men including two on a bike near an abandoned house.
One man saw the Police and took off running, leaving the two others to be searched by the officers.
The officers found a plastic twist in the front left pants pocket of the cycle's pillion passenger, who was later discovered to be Trott.
He told them: "Give me a break, it's just a little weed."
Police on patrol on Par-la-Ville Road stopped Wilson, 49, as he drove his car shortly after midnight on July 3.
The officers noticed a strong smell of burned cannabis was coming from the vehicle and asked him if he had any drugs in his possession. He didn't answer.
A search produced a clear plastic bag with six brown paper twists and five white paper twists.
He was asked to accompany the officers to the Hamilton Police station to answer bail, at which point Wilson said: "I had forgot I had herb in my top pocket."
Meanwhile, Police searched Bucher's home, on Bluebird Lane, in Sandys, after a warrant was issued. The officers found a plastic bag containing a twist with plant-like material.
A Government analysis found it contained 0.34 grams of the controlled drug cannabis.
Bucher, who has no previous convictions, was handed a conditional discharge by Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo for the offence.
The Magistrate ordered a Social Inquiry Report on Trott, who is to re-appear in court on December 23 for sentencing.
Mr. Tokunbo fined Wilson $500 for possession of cannabis and an additional $1,000 for being in an increased penalty zone at the time.
