The Corporation of Hamilton will open its doors to the public for a town hall meeting next week.

Hamilton Mayor Charles Gosling said the meeting on Thursday, September 17, is intended to encourage communication between the municipality and the public.

Since 2008, The Royal Gazette's A Right to Know campaign has called for the publicly-funded Corporation to be more transparent and hold its meetings in public.

Last October, the 214-year-old organisation announced that it would make its resolutions public each month for the first time.

Mr. Gosling promised before he was elected Mayor in June that he would ensure public meetings took place. He said yesterday he was "making good on that promise". The meeting in the City Hall Theatre will start at 6 p.m.
